Enhanced Due Diligence
Enhanced due diligence examines the people and interests behind a commercial relationship when routine checks leave important questions unanswered. Bureau Securitas coordinates deeper research through its joint venture and specialist network to support investment, partnership, appointment and programme decisions.

When a database check is not enough
Complex ownership, an unfamiliar jurisdiction, inconsistent background information or unexplained commercial relationships can justify further enquiry. We begin with the decision at stake and agree the subjects, jurisdictions and concerns that matter.
The assignment may focus on an individual, a company, a proposed partner or a connected group. A clear scope avoids producing a large collection of search results without answering the underlying question.
Look beyond the immediate counterparty
Research can examine corporate history, ownership and control, connected parties, relevant public records, adverse reporting, political exposure and indicators that warrant closer examination. Commercial interests and available information about wealth or funds can be considered where included in the brief.
For investment-migration or similar programmes, work is scoped around the commissioning authority or authorised client and its requirements. Investigative due diligence supplies information; it does not provide immigration advice or promise an approval.
Keep findings proportionate and traceable
A report should explain the relevance and reliability of the information found, distinguish a verified fact from an allegation, and identify significant gaps. The aim is to give the authorised decision-maker a clear basis for additional questions, conditions or further investigation.
Due diligence is a point-in-time assessment. If circumstances change or a relationship continues, a refresh or monitoring assignment can be considered separately. No investigation can guarantee the absence of undisclosed information.
What the engagement can deliver
The proposal confirms the outputs for your assignment. Depending on scope, these can include:
- An agreed subject list, research scope and decision context
- Ownership and relationship analysis where commissioned
- Sourced findings with relevant concerns and limitations
- A briefing on unresolved issues and suggested follow-up
Questions about enhanced due diligence
How does this differ from background screening?
Background screening primarily verifies specified information. Enhanced due diligence examines more complex interests, relationships and concerns in the context of a commercial or programme decision.
Can you investigate complex corporate ownership?
Corporate mapping can form part of the assignment. The report distinguishes recorded ownership, indications of control and matters that could not be verified.
Does a clear report guarantee a safe investment?
No. The findings reflect the scope, sources and information available at the time. Investment and other decisions remain with the authorised client and its advisers.
