Digital Forensics & Evidence Review
Digital material can clarify an investigation, but its value depends on how it is obtained, preserved and examined. Bureau Securitas coordinates specialist digital forensic support through its joint venture and delivery partners, with access, scope and intended use agreed before examination.

Preserve before exploring
Where devices, accounts or records may contain relevant material, avoid unplanned changes that could affect evidence. The initial discussion establishes the available sources, authority to examine them and any immediate preservation requirements.
The specialist team determines a suitable collection and handling approach. Some matters need a narrow review of supplied material; others require a separately authorised forensic acquisition. Not every assignment calls for examination of every device.
Find the material relevant to the case
Work can include forensic recovery where feasible, triage of digital records, document and communication review, timelines and relationship analysis. Search criteria should reflect the investigative questions and be reviewed as findings emerge.
Software can help organise large datasets and identify potential connections. Specialist review remains necessary to validate results, assess context and distinguish an investigative lead from a supported conclusion.
Explain what the examination can establish
Reports record the agreed methods, relevant findings and material limitations. Recoverability depends on the source, condition, encryption and available access. A forensic engagement cannot guarantee recovery of deleted or inaccessible data.
Digital forensics is distinct from bug sweeping and from an IT penetration test. Those services may be relevant to the same incident, but they examine different questions and require separate scopes.
What the engagement can deliver
The proposal confirms the outputs for your assignment. Depending on scope, these can include:
- An agreed source list, authority and examination scope
- A suitable preservation and handling approach
- Relevant findings, timelines or data analysis where commissioned
- A report describing methods, supporting material and limitations
Questions about digital forensics & evidence review
Can you recover deleted data?
Sometimes. Feasibility depends on the device or source, its condition, encryption and subsequent use. The specialist assessment should establish what recovery can reasonably be attempted.
Can you examine an employee device?
An examination requires appropriate authority and a defined scope. Ownership alone should not be treated as resolving every access, privacy or employment consideration.
Does this include a cyber security audit?
No. Evidence examination investigates specified material. System security testing and remediation require separate authorisation and a different scope.
